Hallways Walking,
Video Performance, 2017

Hallways Walking is a video performance that focuses on the significance of hallways as thresholds in a home. These passageways serve as the backbone of a house, providing support not only to the structure and a space to pace and remember. As bodies age and weaken, the walls become handles that help us maintain balance and stability. They offer a path to our destination, while also providing a space for reflection and recollection. Hallways connect different rooms and individuals with different identities, yet they intersect and cross over within the shadows. The dancing figure in the performance provides a contrast to those who shuffle through the pace of their own dance. The sounds of footsteps and the rhythm of the dances are silenced, fluctuating in pace but maintaining a palpable rhythm that only those nearby can sense. Hallways Walking serves as a reminder of the familial foundations that shape our identity through personal rhythm and the importance of preserving these spaces of memory and bodily connection.
